Currently in the scenic Xinjiang province in China. Almost impossible to enter here currently due to the Covid pan-epidemic.
Foreigners are currently treated with an element of suspicion, with many of the local inhabitants believing the Covid virus originated from American soldiers during a military gathering in Wuhan.
Torn between Covid and a history of extremist Muslim violence these scenic areas have always been controlled with police checks and toll stations and are now used as Covid control centers for regional checkpoints to enter cities. It remains a privelige to be able to explore the surrealistic beauty of this region and realize how the Western media can twist the relaity of how Muslims are treated. Free to prosper and abide by the law and local custom they are free to prosper with a prominent Muslim sector in Urumqi.
